Wet Sunday morning and the first leaves have started to come down for autumn. This image has been chosen by my wife Helen. She didn’t like the picture looking down into a puddle at a single leaf, with the reflection of the trees behind, so this image it has to be.
Unfortunately this will be the last picture taken with my Leica for quite sometime. It has developed a problem which I think might be shutter related, so back to the repairers again.
Taken on a Leica M4-2, Summicron 50mm f/2 lens on Kodak Tri-X film rated at ISO 800.
That’s a shame 😔 My friend has one of these cameras which he’s let me try out before and they really are lovely to use. I hope you manage to get it fixed soon 👍

Sorry just saw the ‘-2’ part. The one I tried was an M4 but still, I think they’re all lovely camera’s 👍

My Leica, is an M4-2, same as an M4 but was a cost cutting exercise during the 1970’s. Production was moved to Midland Ontario, Canada, minus the self timer, has a zinc body and doesn’t have the engraving on the top plate. The M4 you tried is from holy city of Wetzlar in Germany and was made with steel and brass body and engraved name on the top.
The M4-2 I have has a light leak somewhere, maybe the strap lug, who know’s, so off to Cameraworks it has gone. On the bright side I do have the opinion of using my fathers Leica M3, considered by some to be the worlds best film camera… so watch this space!

That’s so lovely that you’re Dad has such an amazing camera! My parents have nothing like that 😂 I’ve been told by one of my friends who has an M3 (that I’ve not tried out) that it has a really good viewfinder 👍
