Leas winter

Minster Leas beach huts, Minster, Kent England. Shot on a very gloomy, windy and wet Sunday morning in February.  The sun was trying to break though but didn’t quite manage it. I just love the effect this film gives when it’s pushed three stops.

Pathway

Mote Park, Maidstone, England. A very dull, wet winters morning.  The sunlight was silhouetting people, children and their dogs against the wet pathway. This shot I am amazed with as normally with a Summicron lenses you will get lens flare looking into the sun but this shot some how I avoided it.

Against the wall

I took this image sometime last month but had not got around to using it. I had looked at this tree many times and thought there is a shot there but just couldn’t get the composition right until sun was at a low angle between the buildings opposite.

The Street

Loose, England. I took this shot because the sunlight back lighting the gardens but now the more I look at this image it somehow reminds me of the vintage pictures you see taken of these villages

Posts

Minster Leas, Isle of Sheppey, England.

After shooting my image ‘Only the Bones‘ you can see some old posts in the background which I think maybe part of an old pier or even for a floating pontoon as these old structures are some eight feet in height. Maybe the old barges where part of the pier, who knows?

Tyler’s Cottage

Tyler’s Cottage in Loose Valley, Maidstone, England.

The sunlight was just catching the building and the fur tree to my left, highlighting the scene between the clouds. Unfortunately, I did lose some of the detail from house because of the sunlight, which amazed me how burn’t out it was despite metering for white of the building.  On the plus side with this image turned out using the trees to hid the ugly modern aerial and satellite dish which would otherwise spoil the scene.

November’s Stream

I am really pleased with this picture. This is the view of the stream running though Loose Valley, Maidstone England. With most of the autumn leaves down now, the soft light over the rippling water and the reflections of the trees above, it made for a wonderful image that was just right for black and white film.

Calm water

Sheerness Holiday Park, Isle of Sheppey, England on a very still morning, an hour after dawn. The Military Canal water was like a mirror, which was lucky as moments later after I’d taken the image a couple of Mute swans came to land.

Dawn view

View one morning over the Military canal, Isle of Sheppey, England. I like this shot for the sky and reflection, maybe I should have moved over more to the right for the composition to get the tree further into the image. Somehow I just could not get the picture to look right.

Only the Bones

I could never get this scene quite right but this is my third attempt and I happy with the result. A hazy, overcast day at the far end of Minster Leas, Isle of Sheppey, England there is what remains of these old metal barges of which I think there’s seven or maybe eight hulks slowly succumbing to the sea. Also the posts in the background maybe part of an old pier as they are too tall to be old groyne posts.

Note to self and other dog owners, don’t let your dog take his ball with him when you go to the location of your shoot… as the little monkey wouldn’t stop barking for me to throw his soggy ball!
