Only the Bones

I could never get this scene quite right but this is my third attempt and I happy with the result. A hazy, overcast day at the far end of Minster Leas, Isle of Sheppey, England there is what remains of these old metal barges of which I think there’s seven or maybe eight hulks slowly succumbing to the sea. Also the posts in the background maybe part of an old pier as they are too tall to be old groyne posts.

Note to self and other dog owners, don’t let your dog take his ball with him when you go to the location of your shoot… as the little monkey wouldn’t stop barking for me to throw his soggy ball!

Charlie on the mud

Taken using my Leica M4-2, with a Summicron-M 35mm f/2 ASPH on Fomapan 100 Classic film rated at 400 ISO and a B&W yellow filter.

Cycle

The newly repainted Cycle lane catching the early morning sunlight along Sheerness sea wall, England. I was taken by the way the white lines were glowing in the light against the dark, weathered concrete.

Waiting for Master

Waiting for his master to come back, I spotted this dog in a supermarket car park in Sheerness just as the early evening sunlight caught his face. All the time I was there he cried continuously watching though the open window.

Destinations

I don’t normally take pictures of just the sky, but this stuck me because of the amount of passenger airliner vapour trails criss-crossing above me forming a pattern of intersecting lines across from the Cumulus into the Cirrus clouds. Might of even been better in colour, but black and white film was loaded at the time.

Talking Chips

Whitstable high street, England. I spotted this guy eating chips with his dog outside this takeaway and liked the reflection of him and his dog. Having seen the contact sheet it looks like he’s shouting at someone in the shop when in fact he was eating.

When I scanned the picture, it was only then noticed I’d captured this couple I had not seen in the background reflection cuddling their small dog.

Scratch it

Minster, England. I saw the two elderly gentlemen who stopped for a rest from walking their dogs, so I start taking pictures. Made for amusing scene with the dog being scratched and the Yorkie looking down to see what was going on below.

The Reading

Leysdown, England. I’ve never seen a Clairvoyant working a seafront, let alone the street. Complete with her Tarot cards she was giving this reading to the lady opposite… I wonder if she predicted this picture being taken?

Down the Terrace

Old railings at Neptune Terrace, Sheerness, England.
Taken two years ago now, this shot was an accident. I wanted to capture the highlights from the sun over the railings but got the depth of field too shallow. Now the more I look at this picture the more I like it.

Young photographers

Think this might be one of my best pictures of street photography so far. I spotted these youngsters taking street pictures with their digital cameras in Whitstable high street, England. The boy in the middle expression just makes the image complete for me.
