Taken near the entrance of Barton’s Point Coastal Park, England on a warm sunny September day.
While walk along the sea wall this gentlemen stopped and began adjusting his bicycle. I was going to crop out the crash barrier plus the street lamp but having seen the angle of the curb stones and street markings, the diagonal lines add to this images appeal for me.
Shot on a Nikon FE, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AI with Fomapan 100 classic film.
Vierville-sur-Mer, Normandie in France, better known to you as Omaha Beach. This picture I shot as the weather closed in, moments later the heavens began to open. The view is looking out from the seafront to this pier is now joined to what was part of Mulberry A Harbour. Later on having developed the film I discovered I had underexposed the shot by a stop, but all the same I’m pleased with the resulting image.
Taken on a Nikon FE, Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 Ai with a Yellow Photax filter on Fomapan 100 Classic film and developed in Ilford ID11 for 6 minutes at 22ºc.
Taken in 2017 while out on one of our many dog walks we came across this couple using the public gym machines along Minster Leas Seafront, England. Both husband and wife are in their 80’s and fitter than me!
Nikon F80, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AF-D on AGFA Vista 200 film.
Rusting mooring post on the old Neptune jetty in Sheerness, England. I deliberately over exposed this picture in the bright sunlight with a shallow depth of field, which also give the image an old look about it.
Taken on Fomapan 100 Classic film with a Nikon F80, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AF-D and developed in Kodak D76.
Shot at Sheerness Beach, England along the seawall. I was interested in the structure of the bench and it’s shadow in the morning sunlight but then also noticed the snail trails on the wall glistening in the light.
Nikon FE, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8Ai on Fomapan 100 Classic film with a Photax yellow filter and developed in Kodak D76.
Gacé in Normandy, France.
Street photography. Outside this cafe on Rue Saint-Jacque in the bright autumnal sunshine, this woman in the foreground seemed miles away subbing out her cigarette.
Taken on a Nikon FE, Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 Ai with a yellow Photax filter on Fomapan Classic 100 film.
Taken at Leybourne lakes near Snodland, England. While walking the dog, my wife and I came across these baby dummies hanging on a tree along the path. There must of been at least 30 of them decorating this tree, made for a unusual shot.
Taken using a Nikon FE, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 Ai on Fomapan 400.
While in France last month, I found this old bar called Bar du Chaleau in the small town of Gacé. Strong sunlight between the buildings was shining across the front of the old run down tavern, giving it a eerie but interesting look.
Nikon FE, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 Ai with a yellow Photax filter and taken on Fomapan Classic 100 film.
Taken at the Basilica of Sainte-Thérèse de Lisieux, France. Shot from the front of the building at the side entrance steps at the Basilica building.
I was intrigued by the zig zag pattern shadows across the stone steps. I just waited for someone to come down, some nuns appeared at the top, brilliant I thought, they saw me with camera and proceeded to walk down the other side! Eventually, after waiting for someone to walk down the right way this lady appeared walking slowly down the steps to finish the picture for me.
Nikon FE, Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 Ai with a yellow Photax filter and taken on Fomapan Classic 100 film and developed in Ilford ID11 developer.
I’ve just returned from a short excursion in Normandie, France, and have been shooting with my Nikon FE.
While I was away my Leica M4-2 has now returned from it’s service at cameraworks-uk. I must thank Alan Starkie at Camera Works for all his hard work. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on the way you look at this, Alan and his Son are absolutely inundated with Leica rangefinders wanting service or repair from all around the world. So service waiting time is not quick but well worth the wait I assure you.
Now for the picture…
Taken last year in Broadstairs, Kent, England after the remains of Storm Irma hit the UK.
I was trying out Fomapan Retro 320, a soft grain film which I now think might better for portraiture rather than landscapes or seascape images, although got to admit the soft tones do have an certain appeal in the image.
Taken with a Nikon FE, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 Ai with a yellow Photax filter. Developed in Kodak D76 for 15 minutes at 20°C
