Brasserie

This image I was drawn to mainly because of the chairs in the hash sunlight as well as the couple enjoying their conversion. Taken in Bayeux, France on a another very hot August day, this picture just works for me not only because of it’s simplicity but also normally this area would be packed with tourists at this time of year.

The Alleyway

I have a thing about alleyways and especially when I find one like this one. Plain, simple image but with loads of tones, character, converging angles and great for film photography. I found this narrow passage in Le Sap, Normandie which is a tiny hamlet in the northwestern France.

Boys & Girls

Honfleur, France August 2020.

Street image of tourists and cyclists on Rue Haute, Honfleur Normandy. Two men on bikes with the girls walking the opposite direction made for a perfect shot.

Hiding

Vimoutiers, France. August 2020

Taken on a very dull morning this image is a bit grainy but it I think it works. This shy little boy was standing in front of his mother while she was talking on the street outside this cafe. Sitting at a table opposite while drinking a morning tea, waiting for a possible shot, the moment came when peered under his mothers hand for me.

Spot of lunch

Lion sur Mer, Normandy France.

I am pleased with this shot, it was taken from the hip while walking past this couple eating their lunch along the seafront on what was a very hot day in August. This negative had to be cropped in Gimp 2.1 to straighten the composition but that was about all this picture needed to complete the final image.

Look outside

Le cafe du Port, Honfleur France. I took this picture because of the gentlemen on the right, he kept glancing outside the window. Whether he was waiting for someone either that he seen something I don’t know but it made for a great street shot all the same.

Innocents

Bar De Normandie, Vimoutiers France. The wife and I were having a drink at this café when I noticed I was being watched by this very cute little girl. Capturing a moment like this image makes photography such a wonderful pastime.

Browsing windows

For the foreseeable future street photography not only looks different but I’m find more difficult with social distancing. You move in for the shot and because people are now more aware of someone standing closer to them, I found they tend to move out the way or look round at you.

Street corner portrait

Don’t normal do self portraits but with this street shot looking though the viewfinder, I saw the fat man with his dog and a Leica camera. At the same time I also viewed the image within the picture which made for something a little different with this self portrait I had not seen taken by other photographers before.

Smile!

Back from France, but in quarantine for two weeks …oh. 😞

This time I was able to go to France with two Leica’s, M4 with black and white the other loaded with colour. Taken in Vimoutiers town square and sometimes if I catch someones eye, I still take the shot, but now just saying smile! …sometimes you get a great reaction.
