I'm Martin, a amateur photographer from England that likes to shoot street photography, landscapes, seascapes and odd image of dogs on digital as well as film. I use a Leica M-P (Typ-240) with a Summilux 50mm f/1.4 ASPH lens and a 1959 Leica M3 single stoke with Summicron 50mm duel range lens. My blog was formerly known as 'The 35mm Shootist'
Weeks after I have taken this picture this area is two or three worse still and the grass where we walk our dog, the water comes up around your boots as the ground is so saturated. Anyhow, what with the on going lockdown restrictions, photography is becoming a little harder to do at present especially street photography. So my attention has turned to a little local landscape photography.
Taken last month at Bartons Point Coastal Park, Isle of Sheppey, England. I took this shot not only for the sunlight reflecting in the water but because the different puddles across the fields leading to the horizon.
Leica M4-2, Summicron 35mm f/2 ASPH and taken on Fomapan 400 film with a B&W yellow filter.
Loose Valley, Cave Hill Mill Pond, Maidstone. Father and his young children trying to feed the ducks last autumn. I was taken by the reflection and the light though the trees, made for a wonderful moment composed, the only fly in the ointment is the little girls hat which try as I might on a computer at lease I just could not get the detail to burn in. Might a different story in a darkroom!
Taken on my Leica M4-2, Summicron 50mm f/2, with a yellow B&W filter and shot on Kodak Tri-X film rated at ISO 800.
Mote Park, Maidstone, England. A very dull, wet winters morning. The sunlight was silhouetting people, children and their dogs against the wet pathway. This shot I am amazed with as normally with a Summicron lenses you will get lens flare looking into the sun but this shot some how I avoided it.
Leica M4-2, Summicron 35mm f/2 ASPH, with a yellow B&W filter and shot Ilford HP5 plus film at an ISO 800.
I am really pleased with this picture. This is the view of the stream running though Loose Valley, Maidstone England. With most of the autumn leaves down now, the soft light over the rippling water and the reflections of the trees above, it made for a wonderful image that was just right for black and white film.

As many of you know my work, I very rarely shoot colour film. So when I said to my wife I’m going to shoot some autumn pictures last Sunday, a voice came from the other room ”you are going to use colour?” So frantically looking in my photography fridge upstairs, luckily for me there was one last roll of Agfa Vista 200 colour film left, dated October 2018… Phew.
This shot hasn’t really got much in the way of autumn colour but I liked the late afternoon light and shadows across the cemetery. Only in post processing on the computer did I notice the grave in the foreground, the foot stone is propped up with white bricks!
Taken at Sheppey Cemetery, England on my Leica M4-2, Summicron 35mm f/2 ASPH with Agfa Vista 200 film.
A quite spot for carp fishing on the lake fed by the River Len at Mote Park, Maidstone, England. I have been trying out some Ilford HP5 which I had rated at 800 ISO and although I’ve use this film in the past, I had never pushed this film in bright light before and so far I am very happy with the results and somewhat cheaper than Tri-X.
Taken using my Leica M4-2, with a Summicron-M 35mm f/2 ASPH.
Mote park, Maidstone, England. A cold, foggy morning with sunlight just starting to break though the fog. I took this either this month while walking the dog, I’d seen these trees in the River Len but not paid too much attention to the scene until seeing them with misty background. This one to be printed and framed on the wall I think.
Taken on my Leica M4-2, Summicron 50mm f/2 lens with a B&W yellow filter. Shot on Kodak T-Max P3200 film at a ISO of 800.
While walking the dog early in the morning, the low sun give these wonderful long shadows across the pavement. Also quite like the sunbursts spots from the cars which thankfully didn’t burn out the image.
Taken on my Leica M4-2, Summicron 50mm f/2 on Fomapan 100 film.
Taken at Leybourne lakes near Snodland, England. While walking the dog, my wife and I came across these baby dummies hanging on a tree along the path. There must of been at least 30 of them decorating this tree, made for a unusual shot.
Taken using a Nikon FE, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 Ai on Fomapan 400.
